ELT - Interaction with Prof. J H Khan

Thinking activity

On 16,17 and 18 August, department of English invited Prof. J. H. Khan. We had discussion on several topics. We were influenced from him. He said that "we keep on competing with ourselves." He also shared information about NET/SLET exams.


#Main concepts discussed in class....

Dr. Khan taught us that how to articulated sounds in language and in language their is different parts of it. He also included what is general English and what is English for specific purposes, communication - it is a task to perform. There is difference between ESP and EAP, and the information about semantics and pragmatics. He has influence on English language and he says that, language is a social institution and it is a product of culture. 



Prof. Khan taught us English for specific purposes and English for academic purposes.  ESP, focus on teaching English and academic involves research, analysis, understanding. ESP, it is pragmatic discipline. In English for literary purposes, the language of poetry, the language of drama and the language of novel. Basically the discussion centred on English for various purposes. 

#Teaching style and learning experience...

Prof. J. H. Khan is very enthusiastic person, he says that he is not a teacher he is still a learner. He has great influence on English language, his teaching style is a remarkable because he has a fluency in language. He loves to talk with a youth because he is connected with the digitally with everyone. Our learning experience was awesome, we never forget whatever we learnt from him, not only academic things which is useful in exam but in our daily life also it is quite remarkable.

#Two days of learning is quite helpful in our exams, I would like to thank our head of department, Dr. Dilip Barad sir, who invented such a scholar person. Whole discussion is quite fruitful and it is a beneficial for our exams.
