Matilda : Movie review

Matilda is a 1996 American children's fantasy comedy film directed, produced and narrated by Danny DaVito, who also starred in the lead role. The film is based on Road Dahl's novel of the same name. (Wikipedia)

'Matilda' a story of a wonderful little girl. She was very eager to gain the knowledge. The story is moves around her life. If we talked about the spirit of the life, in that case Matilda got the worst parents and she have many problems.

Wonderful teacher vs. worst parents: good thing is that Matilda got a precious teacher Miss Jennifer Honey. She has an outrageous parents and a despotic school principal Miss Trunchbull, an evil personality, who tourtur her students in a very despotic way.

Matilda's love for book and learning as opposed the greed, anti-intellectualism and consumerism of her parents. She can solve the most difficult math problem in a very few minutes.

The dialogues are brilliant, the humor is bold and subtle also. The best thing is all the characters are archetypal. They creates their particular image. Matilda as an intelligent girl she knows that how to behave in such kind of situation.

"I'm smart your dumb, I'm big your little, I'm right your wrong and there's nothing you can do about it!"

It is very catchphrase type of a dialog, how everyone can insults a little girl. Matilda's character is very impressive one, movie show us that a little girl can show courage and get herself out of your bad situation.

The observation is that the bad people deserves a punishment for their evil deeds like Miss Trunchbull got punishment at end of the movie.

I want to remember this movie because it celebrates Matilda's love for books, this is one the best story and best children movie ever.

My favourite book

My favourite book is Haresh Dholakiya's 'અંગદ નો પગ' which is about relationship between student and teacher and Chetan Bhagat's 'Half Girlfriend', which is converted in a movie.....

Thank you.....

Structuralism and Literary Criticism: Gerard Genette

Thinking activity: Structuralism and Literary Criticism ➧  Being a structuralist critic, how would you analyse literary text or TV serial or Film? You can select any image or TV serial or film or literary text or advertisement. Apply structuralist method and post your write up on your blog. Give link of that blog-post in the comment section under this blog. In literary theory , structuralism is an approach to analyzing the narrative material by examining the underlying invariant structure. For example:-  A literary critics should apply one type of pattern or structure in their writings. They don't applying something new or we can say something unique in their writings.  Like  Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. T.S.Eliot : Tradition and Individual Talent

Thinking Activity on Tradition and Individual Talent 1.  How would you like to explain Eliot's concept of Tradition? Do you agree with it?                                 Yes, I'm agree with the Eliot's views. He point out the tradition as that the tradition is matter of much wider significance. It cannot be inherited, you must obtained it by  great labour. Talent has no connections with the inhabitants, we have to work hard to catch the talent.                   Being a part of tradition we have to do great labour, it involves historical sense which involves appreciation not only of the pastness of past but also it's presence. 2  What do you understand by Historical Sense?                 " The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of its pre...
