Small review of movie screening

Today we have movie screening of Sense and Sensibility which is written by Jane Austen and directed by Ang Lee in 1995. Screen play by Emma Thompson, Kete Winslet, James Fleet.

It is a story about Two character who represents the title Sense and Sensibility. Elinor who was presented as sense and she was very practical girl, which is like neoclassical character and Marianne presented as sensibility who was very sensitive. Both the characters has equal importance. The story is about Dashwood family. Henry Dashwood who dies in the opening of the movie and he has two wives. First wife has son John Dashwood and second wife Mrs. Dashwood has three daughters Elinor, Marianne and Margaret. As per their costume after the death of father all the property goes to the son of the family. So John has all properties, his wife Fanny who was very greedy, she throws Mrs. Dashwood and her daughters out of the Dashwood estate.

There are many characters who represents the goodness like Sir Middleton and Lady Middleton, they are given their house to Mrs Dashwood. Another characters like Edward and Colonel Brandon who becomes the life partner of Dashwood sisters.

At the end of the movie we can see that as Marianne was very sensible she was merry with half age person Mr. Colonel Brandon. So, Sense and Sensibility represents through both the characters.

Thinking Activity on Tradition and Individual Talent 1.  How would you like to explain Eliot's concept of Tradition? Do you agree with it?                                 Yes, I'm agree with the Eliot's views. He point out the tradition as that the tradition is matter of much wider significance. It cannot be inherited, you must obtained it by  great labour. Talent has no connections with the inhabitants, we have to work hard to catch the talent.                   Being a part of tradition we have to do great labour, it involves historical sense which involves appreciation not only of the pastness of past but also it's presence. 2  What do you understand by Historical Sense?                 " The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of its pre...
