Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe

14, August 2017

Robinson Crusoe is novel by Daniel Defoe, first publish on 25 April 1719.It has simple narrative style, Robinson Crusoe was well received in the literary world.

 Colonial discourse in Robinson Crusoe.

Colonization could be found in economics, politics, education and literary works. here in Robinson Crusoe we can found colonial aspects in many ways.
Firstly when Crusoe had saved Friday. and Friday laid hid head upon the ground and talking Crusoe's foot upon his head. Crusoe chooses name for Friday which is from western culture and created a new identity for his servant.Colonialism is also seen in how Crusoe treats Friday once they leaves in the Island.
Crusoe teaches Friday about Christianity with he intention of proving his religion superior to the savages religion. Crusoe instructs Friday not to question the English religion, but to simply follow it.
then he teaches Friday to dressed like him.We can see in the novel Crusoe is very kind of Friday but there is of course difference between 'we' and 'they'.as it is 'my man' and 'my master',actually the relation between the colonizer and the colonized.

How colonialism work in our life

In today's world we are colonized by British people like we are live in India and English is not our language but we are studying English language because nowadays English becomes globle language.
we are colonized in ways like we are influenced by them and we try to dressed like them. they are still ruling on our minds. we are greeting peoples in English way like 'Happy Anniversary' not in our language like 'salgirah ki shubhecha' and in many ways we are follows British tradition.

Differences between movie and book

  • We see there are many differences between book and novel
  • In the book Robinson was not a lord. he was not a great swordmen and he was not a warrior. He was not love with any girl and he did not fight with Friday.
  • In the book Robinson takes Friday as a servant but in to the movie we can see that Crusoe takes Friday as a slave.
  • In the book Crusoe's attitude towards Friday is loving that is why Friday was loyal to him and in the movie Crusoe's attitude towards Friday is first rude, irritate and harsh so, Friday leaves him because of it. we can say that at the some point  movie is different from book.

Anti-colonial elements in movie

Robinson Crusoe's relation with Friday serves as an allegory for British imperialists disrupting others culture and civilizing them. In the novel Crusoe was very good person, he was white man and he doesn't make Friday to his slave. Crusoe treated him like a men not like a slave this is how he shows his humanity. Crusoe wants to be a good friend of Friday. Crusoe gave his clothes to Friday, but he never forced to accept his culture.
so, these are the anti-colonial aspects.

Hindi play Digdarshak

August, 09 2017 The review of the play "Digdarshak"            I have been watched one hindi play "Ek Maulik Sarjak : Digdarshak" . which was arranged by film screening committee. Review of the play and presentation given by Alpa Pond, which was very well presented. It is written by Priyam Jani and directed by Rishit Jhaveri.               By  watching this play I have got two ideas Drama & film and cinema v/s theatre. The plot of the play is about cinema v/s theatre and great bond between directer and actor. actor wanted to become a successful actor and this how he uses the theatre to as a step of success. there is very nice message in this play that we have to keep balance between our personal life and professional life. and the directer doesn't make balance between personal life and professional life. directer was very punctual and he wanted that everyone should follow his rule but it is quit imposs...
