Review on the teachings of Prof. Balaji Ranganathan

Learning experience..

Recently I have attended the expert lecture on postcolonial theory. The expert lecture was organised by our head of the department, Dr. Dilip Barad sir. I'm very glad to attend the lectures on postcolonialism. Prof. Ranganathan is specialist in postcolonialism, sow me and my classmates were got the chance to learn from his knowledge. His style was very unique, he was given us various examples, and through the examples we all are understand in a better way.

We have another session on NET/SLET. In that lecture he taught us different formula to remember the history, criticism etc. Here I'm giving more information about the teachings of Prof. Ranganathan, from which we all are get influenced.

Four units
1. The Black skin White mask by Frantz Fanon
2. Orientalism by Edward Said
3. A Tempest by Aime Cesaire and
4. Imaginary Homeland by Salman Rushdie
Each of the units are clear in our minds, because he has the fluency in the theory.

#Expert in Postolonialism...

Prof. Ranganathan has deep understanding and knowledge about this theory, first of all he told us the background of the theory, because it is necessary to understand the context. In the very first chapter 'The Black skin White mask', he gives the information about the writer also. One significant sentence was, "our visualisation of nation is not fixed, it changes time by time." We have understood very well the concept of language, the difference between Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' and Aime Cesaire's 'A Tempest', the concept of Orientalism, and many other different concepts. In a way he has a mastery in this field.

#Eloquence...

Prof. Ranganathan was expressed his thoughts very frankly, because he has a fluency in language. He has positive attitude to teach the students, and he was also a techno-frendly teachers.

He showed us the different presentations of orientalism in movie, which was very helpful to understand. He gave the idea of learning different languages like Russian, Japanese, Chinese, because nowadays it is more demanding languages in the market

So, the lectures are very fruitful and enthusiastic and we are very glad to receive an expert academic sessions.

Thank you...:)

Structuralism and Literary Criticism: Gerard Genette

Thinking activity: Structuralism and Literary Criticism ➧  Being a structuralist critic, how would you analyse literary text or TV serial or Film? You can select any image or TV serial or film or literary text or advertisement. Apply structuralist method and post your write up on your blog. Give link of that blog-post in the comment section under this blog. In literary theory , structuralism is an approach to analyzing the narrative material by examining the underlying invariant structure. For example:-  A literary critics should apply one type of pattern or structure in their writings. They don't applying something new or we can say something unique in their writings.  Like  Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. T.S.Eliot : Tradition and Individual Talent

Thinking Activity on Tradition and Individual Talent 1.  How would you like to explain Eliot's concept of Tradition? Do you agree with it?                                 Yes, I'm agree with the Eliot's views. He point out the tradition as that the tradition is matter of much wider significance. It cannot be inherited, you must obtained it by  great labour. Talent has no connections with the inhabitants, we have to work hard to catch the talent.                   Being a part of tradition we have to do great labour, it involves historical sense which involves appreciation not only of the pastness of past but also it's presence. 2  What do you understand by Historical Sense?                 " The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of its pre...
